Common questions.
If your situation isn't here, start a chat and we'll answer specifically.
Is the skip trace result admissible in court?
The result file is investigative work product, not evidence. The current address it produces is used to direct service of process; the proof of service that follows is the court filing.
Can I use skip trace for employment screening or credit decisions?
No. Servd runs skip trace under the FCRA litigation-support permissible purpose only. Use for employment, tenant screening, or credit decisioning is prohibited and is a contract violation.
What is your no-locate policy?
If we cannot produce a current verified address after a full sweep, you receive a result file documenting the dead ends and a 50% credit toward the next attempt — typically a fresh trace after 30-60 days, when refreshed data sources may surface new leads.
How fast is a skip trace?
Most traces complete within 4-24 hours. Complex skips (unique-name defendants in dense metros) can run 48-72 hours; you are notified before the case escalates to a senior investigator.
Can I add skip trace to a service-of-process order mid-case?
Yes. If the first attempt confirms the address is bad, we add the skip trace line and the discovered address auto-routes to the field server for re-attempt. No additional service fee.
